Stream Matrix
We have developed a new technology stack for streaming
services that enables us to provide the very best user experience possible in
the video game/consumer space. The main purpose of this is to take on-demand
content from studios and other creators so that our viewers can enjoy more
high-quality quality content than ever before with less effort in their
pockets. We’ve done this by developing an all-in-one SaaS product called
“Stream Matrix”, which allows content providers to build out or replace their own
video game streaming ecosystems and monetization strategies. For example, we
are going to create a service for the Pokémon GO community and make it
available as Open Source software to everyone, including consumers and
developers alike. This will allow anyone to develop games for these new
platforms and give players around the world access to them via any mobile
device they might be using at the time. Anyone who wants to use something like
Pokemon GO can open up a Discord server and start building whatever platform
game they want as long as they have some technical knowledge and interest in
what they are doing. In addition, Stream Matrix currently powers over 50 titles and plans to grow into many different types of game systems (which I think we
should name here). That will allow us to continue building out this technology
stack to support other communities we believe people would love to explore!
Video Game Studio
The Streaming Team has been working hard behind the scenes on the development of some amazing technologies to make sure you get your content when
you need to get it. These are just a few examples of things you can work on. If
a certain aspect or process needs improving or changing, we have full engineers
dedicated to fixing those problems and pushing back against every issue until
it works or looks right for both you and us. It’s an incredible team of devs,
and we’re always looking to find more talented individuals who share our vision
and share their passion for making game-like experiences better. Our goal is to
move forward every day and push ourselves to do even better!
Community Development & Engagement
The Streaming Team has created several community pages and
weekly meetups where people can join in to help each other progress within our
industry. So please feel free to reach out to me if you want to discuss
anything related to this project, such as asking about how we could improve
something, or if you have a specific idea about what is happening. A lot of our
engineering teams at Twitch are interested in discussing our tech stack, so I
wanted to include links to two separate accounts where folks can chat, discuss,
learn and help each other improve :)
Platform Expansion
The next big thing we’re hoping to implement is expanding
beyond our current focus on gaming. On top of creating our unique SaaS
platform, we are planning to launch 3rd party products we call “platforms” that
leverage the same basic concepts we already use for gamers. This is most likely
going to be a series of smaller, more manageable games that show off our
expertise in this area. However, that is not entirely ruled out. As we grow,
new offerings could be coming down the pipeline, but overall we believe
launching multiple platforms is one of the key parts of why people will choose
to come back to us because of our value for the streaming video games market.
Tools & Help
We’ll be constantly adding features and tools so if there
is anything you’d like to see us add, let us know! Not only that, but we’re
also always trying to provide help to our users, and we try to keep everything
accessible. Some of the cool tools and features we might introduce are
cross-platform playbacks, localized player controls, voice control, cloud

People
We’ll never stop investing in talent and will never lose
sight of the fact that the biggest difference between us and others is our
amazing people. Everyone knows exactly why people leave our company. But a
great team is exactly what keeps bringing fresh faces into our office, which
makes each meeting great. We aim to be fully committed to supporting our people
and creating fun, positive environments so that everyone stays happy. And when
you say no, we don’t mean no; we mean yes. It may seem like a far stretch right
now, but it really isn’t!
