IT Jobs of the Future
The future is all about technology. The question isn’t
if you will continue to use it or not. The future is all about how we
harness the power for good and create new jobs, especially in the field of
computer science. We should not only take our time but we must constantly look
at where technology is going. In my next post, I will talk more about some of
these technologies that are already here and how they will affect us in the
near future.
Computer vision
We know from our ancestors who have been using this
technology for hundreds of years, from when ever someone needed help to reading
a newspaper or the time when everyone wanted to see what was behind any other
blackboard in school. But when computers came along it became more powerful and
began taking over every industry. With artificial intelligence being one of the
most important tools, computers can give your job a huge boost through voice
recognition, image processing, data analysis and even social media analytics.
Social media can also be used in many different ways. You
may want to put out a statement so your followers and friends can tell you
something! Or make pictures and videos of people saying yes and no. This
information can also be collected by companies like Facebook and Twitter which
then analyze it and suggest ways to improve their services.
Voice recognition
We are living in an era where voice recognition is
becoming more intelligent. Companies like Apple, Google, and Amazon are
introducing some great hardware that helps people connect virtually and live
better lives. When it comes to business communication, speech is so helpful for
people’s lives that many companies like Uber, Skype, and YouTube are developing
voice-based applications to meet all their customer's needs. This has created
several different types of jobs as well, particularly those positions that
require having to interact with others in people, such as cashiers, waiters, and
managers. All of them can benefit from giving customers the ability to contact
you and ask for whatever they need. Also, businesses can have a better
understanding of their visitors by listening to what they say. Voice AI is also
helping to develop new apps and services and creating more opportunities for
individuals to work as freelancers instead of just doing whatever they love.
Some employers even hire freelance workers to start working on their websites
and mobile applications. These tasks can be done remotely too and can produce
high income. Asking someone to complete a task could even be made possible by smart
algorithms and the automation of certain human tasks. One major example is IBM’s
Watson which helps people learn more and find out what might cause problems in the future. This also means you could find people who can perform similar tasks to
you and that may lead to a higher salary.
Smart robots
Although there are still plenty of areas where humans’ job
would be replaced by robots, there is currently progress in smart robotics.
Self-driving cars and self-parking in public places is the perfect application
for artificial intelligence. People don’t need as much training to be able to
drive, which makes self-driving cars cheaper and more affordable. If we had
these cars everywhere we would use them, this could have brought unemployment
down if we didn’t have it. On the other hand, self-parking systems aren’t ready
yet. The problem is that this doesn’t always work perfectly, depending on where
you park it may become too easy or its not safe enough which makes driving
unsafe. Another drawback would be that the weather is almost unpredictable and
a driver could be caught off guard without knowing why. So this is something
that you will need to plan for in advance. There is a lot more possibilities of
smart robots and I don’t think there is anything stopping them. They can
perform various tasks in many industries. For example, they are now making
furniture and even making beds in hospitals or homes. Smart robots will be
getting smarter and more capable. But the most interesting thing would be to
make some kind of robot body to replace human bodies. Robots can be useful when
a patient is unconscious. When you need to get home or do a lot of shopping, or
when you just don’t feel up to drive home but need to avoid accidents, you
could have a little robot car for you. The amount of people worldwide who are
losing jobs due to automation is amazing. A machine can save millions of jobs.
What do we mean by Artificial Intelligence?
AI is defined as a term given by Elon Musk so many times
that his words are quite meaningless. When he says AI, he means “human-like”
artificial intelligence, which basically means machines that are able to do
things that we all do in the real world that a human does but with technology
instead of people. An example could be Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa and
their assistants are able to run on your phone. Most human jobs can be
automated but not completely. Even though there is nothing that mimics a human,
we should be careful because there are robots that can mimic many human
qualities and skills. That sounds quite scary. We need to understand the limits
this AI can reach, and that is very important. Don’t let people call your
favorite TV show dumb just because you have never heard of it before. Everyone
uses that word to make jokes and lighten the mood but you really need to
understand the meaning behind it. Because without the proper interpretation you
cannot make sense of it. We don’t know exactly what intelligence can mean so it
means “the capacity to learn without being explicitly taught or instructed.” By
this definition, many fields could be taken over by machines.
The best example is medicine. People need to know more
about each disease they can suffer from and they also need to figure out if
they are actually suffering from any or whether it is just psychological
symptoms. Doctors and physicians need to know everything about every ailment
and each treatment and if there are any side effects. This may sound like a
tedious task but it can be finished by machines. Computers are doing it in record
time. The best example of AI in medicine is DeepMind’s AlphaNet system. It is a
deep learning technology that can analyze medical images and perform a set of
specific operations to find any information on patients which will help doctors
diagnose diseases and be more accurate when diagnosing. What is really good
about it is that the program uses a neural network to learn so it becomes
better for every situation. And right now this is the fastest and most
efficient system in the world for analyzing the results. Another big advantage
of AI in medicine is that it can be used on tablets, laptops, and even portable
devices. This can help reduce treatment costs. The biggest issue is that
machines are likely to only work on small issues like checking medication or
looking for tumors and diseases with more complex questions. We have to rely on
our intuition. We can never be sure what we know and therefore the most
reliable way to make decisions is through empathy. The ability of machines to
mimic human intelligence and perform human-like tasks is truly impressive. We
have to be careful when we choose to go ahead with them.
We can’t stop these advanced techniques. Although, we need
to accept that the future will also have to deal with the consequences. We can probably
expect a drastic shift in our jobs by 2030, but it will not happen overnight.
Nevertheless, the change in society may make me wonder what I should do for
work myself. Are you prepared for it? Will computers replace doctors and
teachers? Will you look stupid if you don’t have access to computers right now?
Would people hate their job? Is the world changing to become less civilized?
Can anything stop the advancement of society, if this happens it may seem
strange that we humans can also have the same opportunities?
Have a Nice Day...
